The Art Of Candle Making

Candles are among the most affordable luxury items. They are beautiful and bring a sense of peace and calmness to the mind. And, when it’s time to dim the lights a bit, nothing says romantic like a candle light dinner. Not only this, but they are also used to make a good decoration gift item. Besides that, you can light a scented candle and relax in the soft sweet fragrance. You don’t need to go out to purchase them. If you love candles, you can make them at home.

Making the candles at home is a hobby taken up by many people. It is an interesting way to pass your time, be creative and make something beautiful for your home as well. You can use different molds, techniques and different colors to change the ordinary candle wax into a beautiful work of art. You can make them into different shapes and sizes, colors and even add texture to it. Not only this, you can add your favorite scents to your candles so that you can enjoy the sweet fragrance whenever it glows.

Types of Wax:

To make a candle, you need to have the necessary material for it. Out of the list of things required, the top two would be the wax and the wick. There are typically three different types of wax which you can use while making the candles. These are the Paraffin wax, the Soy wax and the Beeswax. Paraffin wax is the one which is usually used for making the candles, so it is available on every candle making shop. Soy wax is an all-natural wax and is easy to clean. The easiest of the three is the Beeswax, it is also natural. The feature which makes it easy is that it is soft. This makes it very easy to mold without the need of melting it.

Making the Candles:

The basic method for candle making has more or less remained the same through all these years. To make a candle, you melt the wax. Next, you take a mold and pass a wick through it in a way that it is at the centre. Tie the wick with something to hold it steady. Seal the container from below, pour the molten wax in the container and let it cool down. Then refrigerate it for a few hours, and remove it from the container, and voila, your candle is ready.

    Hi Again

Great idea making candles as gifts. It is simple to do, how would you add a fragrance to the candles? Would that be to add natural oils to the melted wax or another fragrant source?
